Vicky received both her undergraduate and master’s degrees in biology from UC San Diego. Back in California, in the lab of Takaki Komiyama, she worked on characterizing projections at the primary motor cortex of mice during motor learning using two-photon live imaging. She joined the Kohwi Lab in May 2022 and is interested in studying the functional roles of Dan in nuclear architecture organization and neural progenitor competence during development.
Tanguy obtained his Master's degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the UMPC/ENS Paris in 2012. He completed his Ph.D. in the lab of Natalia Dostatni at the Institut Curie in Paris studying the spatio-temporal regulation of gene expression in the context of the early Drosophila embryonic development. During his Ph.D., he adapted a live imaging technique allowing to visualize transcription in real-time to the Drosophila embryo. Fascinated by genome regulation during development, Tanguy decided to join the Kohwi Lab in 2017 at Columbia University in New York for his Post-doc to study the link between genome architecture and stem cell competence using Drosophila central nervous system as a model.
Sofiya graduated from the University of Pennsylvania where she received her B.A. in Biology with a concentration in Neurobiology and a minor in Chemistry. Prior to joining the Kohwi Lab, she studied the role of the m6A RNA modification in aging and cellular stress at the Bonini Lab.
Richard is an undergraduate in the Columbia Juilliard Dual Degree Program majoring in Neuroscience and Behavior. He joined the lab in May 2021.
Maggie graduated from the University of Michigan in 2020 and received her B.S. in Biomolecular Science. Prior to joining the Kohwi Lab, she studied the effects of disrupting the sphingolipid biosynthetic pathway on the endoplasmic reticulum degradation system (ERAD) and protein quality control mechanisms at the Baldridge Lab.
Gillie received her undergraduate degree in biology from UC Santa Barbara’s College of Creative Studies, where she studied the function of retinal astrocytes. She then did her post-bac research on mammalian retinal genetics at Stanford University before coming to Columbia University for her Ph.D. In the Kohwi Lab, Gillie studies how proteins in the Drosophila nerve cord function in nuclear architecture organization.
Ethan is an undergraduate at Columbia College studying biochemistry and computer science. He joined the lab in May 2022.
